Instructor, Angela Bridgford : "I have had the pleasure of knowing Lisa for a few years now through Stroller Strides & L.E.A.N. Mommy. It has been great to see her and the boys make deep, lifelong friendships with a few of our mommies. What I have appreciated most about Lisa is her care and concern for her fellow Stroller Strides' mamas. She is the first to jump in to encourage and support a mom when they are going through something pregnancy related. I value her knowledge and expertise--our own resident labor and delivery nurse!"
This month we recognize LISA HIGGINBOTHAM for her accomplishment and dedication to fitness, motherhood and life! Our Brea, Fullerton, Placentia and Yorba Linda Stroller Strides Team would like to say, "THANK YOU, LISA," for being part of our Stroller Strides family!
1. Who are the members of your family?
The members of my family include my husband, Derek, and our two boys, Ian who is three years old, and Nolan who is six months old.
2. What is or was your career?
I currently work as a registered nurse in labor and delivery.
3. How long have you been a member of Stroller Strides of North Orange County and what has it done for you?
I have been a member of Stroller Strides since for almost three years now. It has been such an amazing experience for me and I love being apart of this group. I was able to make friends and get advice from other moms. It is so nice to have friends that can relate to "kid stuff" and understand the joys/difficulties of motherhood. Stroller Strides has also helped me to become healthier by implementing exercise into my life again. I actually enjoy exercising now!
4. What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?
It seems that motherhood has a way of continuing to surprise me constantly. I guess one of the biggest surprises that I had was the amount of self doubt that I have experienced over the years. I find myself often wondering whether a decision I made was correct, how is it going to impact my child, did I ruin them forever? However what I have discovered is that often I am more critical of myself and that yes my child will be fine. I think that mothers often criticize themselves too much and don't give themselves enough credit for what they are doing right. The friends I have made at Stroller Strides have helped me to realize this and that I am not alone.
5. Favorite website(s)?
I love Amazon! Shopping online is so awesome! I also like pinterest and facebook.
6. List three current obsessions.
1. My family- I love spending time with my boys and just hanging out.
2. Coffee-any kind, any time! I just love all coffee!
3. Taking pictures of my kids
7. What is your child's/children's favorite thing about you or favorite thing that you do?
My boys love cuddle time! I also love it too :) I think one of Ian's favorite things to do with me is to dress up as super heroes and pretend play.
8. Any tips for other moms out there?
It's ok to let some things go. Your children will be young only once so enjoy playing with them instead of doing the dishes. Your kids will remember you being there for them, not whether or not the dishes are done. Also each mom knows what is best for her family and it's ok it is not the same as what everyone else is doing.
