March Mom of the Month - MICHELLE McALLISTER

Instructor, Jennifer Maloof: "So thrilled to nominate Michelle McAllister this month and to have her become a part of our amazing team. Michelle is a quiet sweet soul and is always a joy to have her & Cole in class. I love her passion for fitness and look forward to seeing her shine as she leads her own classes."

This month we recognize MICHELLE MCALLISTER for her accomplishment and dedication to fitness, motherhood and life! Our Brea, Fullerton, Placentia and Yorba Linda FIT4MOM Team would like to say, "THANK YOU, MICHELLE," for being part of our Stroller Strides family!

1. Who are the members of your family?

Husband, Jonny

Daughter, Isabelle, 4 1/2 years

Son, Cole, turned 2 in Feb!

2. What is or was your career?

Prior to having children I was a financial analyst. I worked in the entertainment industry for Warner Bros and Fox before moving on to work for an online advertising agency. I love finance but am very happy to now be a stay at home momma to my two kiddos.

3. How long have you been a member of Stroller Strides of North Orange County and what has it done for you?

I have been a member of SS of No OC for about 5 months! Prior to joining this franchise, I belonged to SS of Monrovia for 2 1/2 years. Joining SS revolutionized my approach to fitness as a new mom. I was feeling so frustrated with my inability to get into a regular workout routine. Isabelle was almost two years old when I joined SS and as I began to attend classes on a regular basis I finally started feeling good about my body again! It was an incredible feeling to now be a mom and know I could still be in great shape. The workouts also gave me energy and confidence that I had been lacking. And Isabelle loved seeing her friends and playing at the park with them on a regular basis. We were hooked! Since then my passion for FIT4MOM and Stroller Strides has only grown. I see how it has helped so many moms start out their day in a healthy way and it truly does change how you approach life, parenting and stress. I am so thankful for Stroller Strides!

4. What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?

Well, a lot! I guess the most surprising aspect of motherhood was learning how much my heart could grow; how I could love someone so much and grow so much as a person. I learned how to make major sacrifices and I was surprised that much of the time I didn't even mind because these little kids are my priority now! Being a dedicated mother is hard work-the hardest job I've ever had. But it is the job I have absolutely been the most passionate about!

5. Favorite website(s)?

Cliche, but I've got to say Facebook. I know some frown upon social media and how addicting it can be, but I honestly feel like it has helped me feel more connected and it is an amazing resource for mommies of littles, needing reassurance, guidance and a place to share! I've found help with all kinds of things from breastfeeding support, sleep advice, a place to share with other moms and friends and get encouragement and hope from them. I love FB!

6. List three current obsessions.

1. Grey's Anatomy-love that show!

2. My straightening iron; I don't do my hair often, but I can do it a little more often than I would be able to because I have this magical tool!

3. Coffee. Saves my day sometimes!

7. What is your child's/children's favorite thing about you or favorite thing that you do?

My kids absolutely love when I plan a day to do something out of the ordinary like go to Irvine Park Railroad and make a special trip to the ice cream shop. I think they love all the experiences we share that are filled with good quality time. And they both love to have tickle time after their bath!

8. Any tips for other moms out there?

Tips I have for moms... one is to carve out a little bit of time for yourself. Early on it may not be everyday, but even an hour out for a dinner with the hubby or just staying up to enjoy a good TV show or a book after the kids go to bed can do wonders! Also, don't be too hard on yourself. We all have our good days and bad days. And the bad days don't make you a bad mom! I sometimes feel like I am doing things all wrong. I pick myself up and try again and that seems to just be a part of this crazy little thing called motherhood! And finally, workout! Exercising can really help alleviate some of the stress of motherhood and it can definitely help strengthen your body so you can be 100% for your littles.
